Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  5. Turn on “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  3. If necessary, disable “Adaptive brightness”
  4. Tap “Brightness level”
  5. Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease luminosity
  6. Return to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
  7. Select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Turn Off Connectivity Features When Unused:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) tiles to disable these features
  3. For additional Location options, go to “Settings” and tap “Location”
  4. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, first return to “Settings”
  6. Then, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks” and disable “Tethering & Mobile hotspot”

Switch to 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Turn on “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By lowering the amount of data synced by your apps / accounts, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type
  5. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to turn off

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third party apps can perform regular background processes when not in use and thus they can affect battery life. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Apps”
  3. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  4. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop” to turn off the app
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so it’s recommended to keep the phone’s OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  4. Tap “System updates”. If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install any available updates. NOTE: This may require you to reboot the phone
