Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Disable Adaptive brightness if necessary
- Tap Brightness level and drag the brightness slider to the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
- Return to Display
- Tap Sleep and select a lower value, such as 15 seconds
Disable Connectivity Features When Unused:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity options when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth tiles to disable these features
- For more GPS (location) options, open Settings
- Scroll to and tap Location
- Tap Mode > Battery saving
- To turn off Wi-Fi Hotspot, go back to Settings and tap more under Wireless & networks
- Disable the Tethering & Mobile hotspot option
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G connectivity.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & networks
- Tap Mobile networks > preferred network type
- Tap 2G to confirm
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can perform regular background processes, and thus they can affect battery life even when they are not actively used. By removing or disabling unused third party applications, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and access Downloaded
- Select the desired application
- Tap Force stop / Disable to turn off the app
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your accounts / apps to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account for which you want to change the sync options
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
Keep the Software Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus its recommended to keep the phones OS up to date at all times. To verify if new software updates are available for download:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down to, and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Verify if a new system update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install any available updates. NOTE: This process will require you to restart the phone
