Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the Brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
- Go to Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display
- Optionally, choose to enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- To select a lower timeout duration, tap Sleep
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth when not in use, you might improve battery life in the long run by avoiding unnecessary network scans etc.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) tiles to disable these features
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to and tap Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode
- Turn Battery saving On
- Go to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the switch OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes and thus they can affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third party apps on the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and ensure All Apps is checked in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired application
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app, or tap Force Stop / Disable to turn the app OFF
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts to reduce sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to the apps drawer
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select the desired account to change its sync settings
Keep the Software Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, so its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to do download and apply available updates. NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot. Save any unsaved work before proceeding
