Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings for more options
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value
Turn Unused Connectivity Features OFF:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when they are not actively in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- From the quick toggle area, tap Location, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to turn the features OFF
- Open Settings for more options
- Access Location for more GPS settings, then tap Mode > Battery saving
- To turn OFF Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the switch OFF
Use 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Select 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes, which can potentially affect battery life even when not in use. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
NOTE: Alternatively, you can uninstall an app by dragging its shortcut from the apps drawer and dropping it over the Uninstall section at the top of the screen (visible only when dragging app shortcuts).
Change Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account and disable the desired sync options
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply any available updates. NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot
