Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen brightness
  3. For more options, open “Settings”
  4. Then scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity options when they are not in use, including Hotspot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” tiles to disable the features
  3. Go to “Settings” and tap “Location” for GPS options
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings”
  6. Then tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not in use. By turning Off unused third party apps, or by removing them from the phone, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Ensure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

NOTE: A different method to remove an app is to open the apps drawer and then drag and drop the app’s shortcut over the “Uninstall” section at the top (visible only when dragging third-party app shortcuts)

Reduce Account/App Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to decrease the amount of data synced, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account and disable the desired sync options

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update(s). NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
