Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity options when unused, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” (GPS) and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Tap “Location” > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. To disable hotspot, go back to “Settings”
  6. Then tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and set the feature Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to battery bank or wall socket, you can preserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Go to “Mobile networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings” for more options
  4. Tap “Display” under “Device” and turn “Adaptive brightness” On or Off
  5. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower screen timeout value such as “15 seconds”

Change Sync Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an existing account and disable the desired sync options

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. Thus by disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps”
  4. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  5. Tap the desired app
  6. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  7. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available and if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to install it (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
