Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Open Settings
- Tap Backup & reset under Personal
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data, passwords, and settings to your Google account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be automatically restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with the account
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Launch Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type
- Tap the account you want to use for contact backup
- Ensure Contacts is checked
- Tap Menu > Sync Now to confirm
NOTE: The contacts can be restored the next time you sign in with your backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Android phone to your computer via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC
- After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to your computer via USB
- Enable Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media backup files on the PC
- Transfer the files back on the phone storage, preferably in the Media directory
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and disconnect the device from the USB cord
