Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Backup & reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data, settings, and passwords to your Google account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically when signing in with the backup account
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Open Contacts
- Scroll to and tap Accounts
- Select an account type
- Select the desired account for contact syncing
- Ensure Contacts is enabled
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with the backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a PC:
- Connect the Android device to your computer via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the desired media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to your computer via USB
- Enable Media device / File Transfer at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the computer
- Copy and transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the Media directory or the folders from where they originate
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
