Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the notification bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Display and optionally, turn Adaptive brightness On or Off
- For timeout options, access Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when not in use such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the notification bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location (GPS) and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the feature
- Open Settings
- Go to Location for GPS options and tap mode > Battery saving
- To turn off Hotspot, return to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Mobile hotspot and turn the feature off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery life or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily restricting the device to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Preferred network
- Go to Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes when not in use, and thus they can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and switch to All apps if needed
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
