Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Under Device tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not actively in use such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Bluetooth, Location and Wi-Fi quick toggles to turn the features off
- Next open Settings and tap Location for additional GPS settings
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the feature off
Switch to 2G Networks Until Recharge:
NOTE: If your device runs low on energy and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch Settings and tap Display under Device
- Enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Select All apps from the drop-down menu and tap the desired application
- Tap Force Stop to disable the app
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts or apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select an account type
- Select an account and change the available sync settings
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates oftentimes include battery life improvements, and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Verify if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply them (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
