Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Under “Device” tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth – you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to turn the features off
  3. Next open “Settings” and tap “Location” for additional GPS settings
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the feature off

Switch to 2G Networks Until Recharge:

NOTE: If your device runs low on energy and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Launch “Settings” and tap “Display” under “Device”
  4. Enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Select “All apps” from the drop-down menu and tap the desired application
  4. Tap “Force Stop” to disable the app
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts or apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select an account type
  4. Select an account and change the available sync settings

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates oftentimes include battery life improvements, and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply them (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
