Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused – such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth – you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Location”, “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” and tap “Location” for more GPS options
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the features off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low o battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and go to “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the account’s sync options to reduce sync

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home scree
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower screen timeout value

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party applications perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party applications, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps”
  4. Go to “All apps” from the drop-down menu
  5. Select the desired app
  6. To disable the app, tap “Force stop” / “Disable”
  7. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if new updates are available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update process (NOTE: you will be required to reboot the phone at least once)
