Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Tap Battery under Device
- Press Menu
- Turn Battery saver ON
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings and tap Display under Device
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not actively in use such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Location, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings
- For GPS options, tap Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the feature OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: if your phone runs low on battery and you dont have access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by switching to 2G networks temporarily.
- Launch Settings
- Under Wireless & Networks tap More
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type and enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps form the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and select All apps from the drop-down menu
- Tap Force Stop / Disable to turn the app OFF
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts and applications.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account type and desired account
- Change the available options to reduce sync
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
