Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Battery” under “Device”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
  3. For more options, open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value like “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused – such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. For additional GPS options, tap “Location” > “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To turn hotspot off, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Go to “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and an account
  4. Change the account’s settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third party apps from the phone to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps”
  4. Select “All apps” from the drop-down menu
  5. Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app off, or:
  6. Tap “Uninstall” to remove the app form the phone storage

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: Certain software updates include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
