Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable your phone’s connectivity features when not in use to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot”
  7. Set the features OFF

Use 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Access “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Change Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can change your account’s settings to reduce sync and conserve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when not actively in use. Thus you can disable or remove unused third-party apps from the phone to improve battery life.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
  3. Make sure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” to disable it
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process (NOTE: the update will require at least one reboot)
