Back Up App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up settings, app data, passwords to your account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for syncing
  4. Tick the “Contacts” check box and tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with the backup account or by syncing them with the device.

Back Up Media Files on a PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the phone storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC
  6. Once done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the PC
  5. Copy and paste the files back to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
  6. After the transfer completes, you can safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
