Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings for additional options
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value such as 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when they are not actively in use to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings
- Go to Location for more GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspots and turn the feature OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts sync settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account type
- Select an account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Setting
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Make sure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to About phone and tap System updates
- Verify if a new update is available for download. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to complete the process (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
