Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” for additional options
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value such as “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” for more GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspots” and turn the feature OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Access “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts’ and select an account type
  4. Select an account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Setting”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Make sure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired application
  5. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “About phone” and tap “System updates”
  3. Verify if a new update is available for download. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to complete the process (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
