Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings for more options
- Tap Display under Device
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and conserve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Next open Settings
- Scroll to and tap Location > Mode > Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the feature OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Access preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life when not actively in use. Thus you can remove or disable unused third party apps to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application and tap Force Stop / Disable to turn the app off
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by minimizing the amount of data synced by your accounts regularly.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account type and account
- Disable the desired settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE the process will require at least one reboot)
