Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Next open Settings for more options
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, enable/disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower timeout setting
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Location (GPS), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Next open Settings
- Go to Location
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- For hotspot options, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Then tap and disable Tethering & portable hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts sync settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the accounts settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when not in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps
- Go to All apps
- Select the desired application
- Tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the device)
