Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Go back to Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and disable the feature
Use 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps
- Make sure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Tap the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change the settings of your account(s) to reduce sync and conserve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates and check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to apply the update (NOTE: this will require at least one reboot)
