Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings” for additional options
  4. Access “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select an option like “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable your phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS- to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features OFF
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Scroll to and go to “Location”
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the features OFF

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: Incase the phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve the battery until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can decrease the amount of data synced by your accounts to improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling these apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
  3. Make sure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To turn the app off, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
