Enable Battery Saving:
- Open Settings
- Access Device > Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options, go to Settings
- Access Display and turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout settings, tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features OFF when not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and conserve the devices battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features OFF
- Launch Settings for additional options
- Access Location (GPS) then tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Go back to Settings
- For Hotspot settings, tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tao Tethering & portable hotspot and turn the feature OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the device, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps and ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app from the device, tap Uninstall
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can reduce the amount of data synced by your accounts/apps to improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Access Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to r educe sync as desired
Keep the OS up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date. To check if new updates are available for download:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Verify if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
