Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Go to “Settings” for additional options
  4. Access “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout duration

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth” , “Location” (GPS) and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS options, tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Disable “Tethering & portable hotspot”

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If you run low on battery you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce the amount of data being synced by your apps and accounts in order to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account type and an account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you can disable or remove unused third-party apps from the phone to potentially improve battery life.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Make sure you view “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force Stop” or “Disable” to turn the app OFF
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update. Remember that applying an update will require to reboot your phone at least once
