Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Backup & reset”
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and passwords to your backup account
  4. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data, passwords, and settings to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account

Back Up & Restore Contacts Using an Account:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is checked then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts can be automatically restored the next time you log in with the backup account or by syncing the account data – and contacts – manually with the phone.

Back Up Media Files on a PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the PC
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the computer
  6. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media backup files on the computer
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
  6. Once the transfer ends, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
