Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Access Settings for more options
- Go to Device
- Tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use in order to avoid potentially unnecessary network scans and conserve battery life:
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- From the quick toggle area, tap the Bluetooth Wi-Fi and Location quick toggles to disable these features
- Open Settings
- Access Location
- Tap mode
- Enable Battery saving
- To turn off Hotspot, return to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Tethering & portable hotspot
- Turn the features off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can temporarily switch to 2G networks until the next recharge to conserve energy.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type and enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the desired settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third-Party Apps:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life when not actively in use. You can remove or disable unused third-party apps from the device to improve battery life.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps and make sure to view All apps
- Select the desired app and tap Disable or Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Verify if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to install and download the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
