Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Battery
- Tap menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Settings:
- Swipe the Status bar on the home screen and drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Device > Display
- Optionally you can enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout settings, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable these features
- Open Settings
- Go to Location and tap mode
- Enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you cant quickly recharge it, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Access Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes and this can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not in use. You can disable or remove unused apps to try and improve battery life.
- Launch Settings
- Access Apps and ensure youre viewing All apps
- Select the desired application
- Tap Disable or Force Stop to turn the app off
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can try to improve battery life by lowering the amount of data synced by your accounts or apps.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the software updated at all times. To check for updates:
- Go to Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
