Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Go to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout settings, tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to turn the features OFF
- Next tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot
- Turn the features OFF
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Under Wireless & Networks tap More
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts settings to reduce sync, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when not actively in use. Thus you can disable or remove unused third-party app to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Apps > All apps
- Select the desired app and tap Force Stop / Disable to confirm
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (this will require you to reboot the device at least once)
