Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings” and go to “Device”
  4. Tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. For timeout options, go to “Sleep”
  7. Select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the status bar down
  2. In the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features off
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Location” for additional GPS options
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saver”
  5. For hotspot options, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes and this can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such you can disable or remove unused third-party apps from the device to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Access “All apps” if necessary
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force Stop” or “Disable” to turn the app off, or:
  6. Tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the phone

Change Account Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type
  4. Select the desired account
  5. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life so it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the update process will require to reboot the phone at least once)
