Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Display and optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, go to Sleep and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features OFF when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features off
- Open Settings
- Go to Location for more GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saver
- For hotspot options, go back to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot
- Turn the feature OFF
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the phone, you may be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps
- Access All apps if necessary and select the desired app
- Tap Force Stop or Disable to turn the app off, or:
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app from the device
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and enable 2G
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (the process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
