Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. For timeout options, return to “Settings” and tap “Sleep”
  6. Then select a lower timeout value like “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down
  2. In the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn these features Off
  3. Open “Settings” for more options and go to “Location” for GPS settings
  4. Tap “mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Go back to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you don’t have access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile network”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such you can remove or disable unused third-party apps on the phone to potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps” and switch to “All apps” if necessary
  3. Select the desired app
  4. To turn the app off, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can try to improve battery life by reducing the amount of data synced by your apps and accounts.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal”
  3. Access “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type and the desired account
  5. Change the settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone” and tap “System updates”
  3. Check if a new update is available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to complete the process (NOTE: the update will require you to reboot the phone at least once)
