Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Go to Settings for additional options and access Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, return to Settings and tap Sleep
- Select a lower timeout value like 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the devices connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- From the quick toggle area, tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings for more options and access Location for GPS settings
- Tap mode and enable Battery Saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Under Wireless & Networks tap More
- Access Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type and enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can try to improve your devices battery life by reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts and apps.
- Open Settings
- Go to Personal > Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps and switch to All apps
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process (NOTE: the update will require you to reboot the device at least once)
