Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Personal
- Tap Backup & Reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data, settings, and passwords to your backup account
- Enable Automatic Restore to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically when signing in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account to use for syncing
- Make sure the Contacts check box is ticked
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
NOTE: Contacts can be automatically restored the next time you log in with the backup account or by manually syncing the account data, and contacts, with the Android device.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- On the phone, enable Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC
- After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- On the phone, enable Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media backup files on the PC storage
- Copy and paste the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders from where they originate
- Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
