Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options go to Settings
- Access Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout duration, tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open Settings and go to Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and turn the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type and enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You might be able to improve battery life in the long run by reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts/ apps.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select the desired account type and account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Access All apps and select the desired app
- Tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone > System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the process will require at least one reboot)
