Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings and go to Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, go back to Settings and tap Sleep
- Select a lower timeout duration like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improver battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- From the quick toggle area, tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings and access Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and turn the feature Off
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life, so you might improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third-party apps.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps and switch to All apps if necessary
- Select the desired app
- Tap Disable / Force Stop to turn the app off
- To remove the app from the device, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your apps and accounts, you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account type
- Tap the desired account
- Change the settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone > System updates
- Verify if a new update is available
- If so, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the phone at least once)
