Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Next open Settings and tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout settings, tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device and tap Battery
- Tap menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when they are not actively in use such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Launch Settings and go to Location for GPS settings
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot
- Turn the feature Off
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings and go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can remove or disable unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Access apps and go to All apps
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap uninstall
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times.
- Launch Settings
- Access About phone > System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
