Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Go to “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout settings tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Device” > “Battery”
  3. Tap “menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use – including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” (GPS) and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Location” for more GPS options
  4. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. Go back to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks” tap “More”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Tap an account type and select the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps’
  3. Access “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To disable an app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS Updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to apply the update (Note that you will be required to reboot the phone at least once)
