Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Launch “Settings” and go to “Display”
  4. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep’ and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving’
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Turn “Tethering & portable hotspot” Off

Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Access “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can remove or disable unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps” and select “All apps”
  3. Tap “Disable” / “Force Stop” to turn the app off
  4. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can provide improvements to battery life and thus recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if new updates are available for download
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompt to download and install the update (note that the update process will require at least one reboot)
