Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch Settings and go to Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Bluetooth and Location (GPS) quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open Settings
- Go to Location tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Turn Tethering & portable hotspot Off
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can remove or disable unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps and select All apps
- Tap Disable / Force Stop to turn the app off
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type and account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can provide improvements to battery life and thus recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates and check if new updates are available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompt to download and install the update (note that the update process will require at least one reboot)
