Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features Off when they are not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” (GPS) and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features off
  3. Launch “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS options, tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. Return to “Settings” and expand “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Access and disable “Tethering & Mobile hotspot”

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Expand “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such, you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third-party apps.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Switch to “Downloaded” and “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” or “Disable”
  5. Alternatively, tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the device

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve the phone’s battery life by reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts/ apps.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and an account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available for download
  5. If updates are available, follow the prompts to download and apply them
