Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch Settings and go to Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features Off when not actively in use, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Location Wi-Fi and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings
- Access Location and tap Menu
- Select Battery saving and return to Settings
- Expand Wireless & Networks and disable Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Expand Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks > preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life.
- Launch Settings and go to Apps
- Switch to Downloaded or All apps
- Select the desired app and tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall instead
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can modify your sync settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Tap an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if updates are available:
- Launch Settings and go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new firmware updates are available
- If applicable, follow the prompts to download and apply the update
