Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings” and go to “Personal”
  2. Tap “Backup & Reset”
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up data, Wi-Fi passwords, and custom settings to your backup account
  4. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow data to be restored automatically when signing in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and account
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is checked
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with the backup account or by manually syncing the account data with the phone.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Navigate to the media files on the phone storage
  5. Copy and paste the files to the desired backup location on the PC
  6. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media backup files on the PC storage
  5. Copy and paste the files back to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
  6. After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
