Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- In the Notification shade, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options go to Settings
- Access Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- Tap Sleep for timeout option and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap menu and enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when they are not actively in use to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Bluetooth and Location (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings
- Go to Location for GPS settings, tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and expand Wireless & Networks
- Turn Tethering & Mobile Hotspot Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings and expand Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can reduce the amount of data synced by your accounts and apps to potentially improve battery life.
- Launch Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type
- Select an account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You might improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third-party apps.
- Launch Settings
- Access Apps and switch to Downloaded or All apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Disable / Force stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times.
- Open Settings and go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the prompts to download and install the update
