Enable Battery Optimization:
- Launch Settings
- Access Battery
- Tap Battery optimization and select an app to optimize
- Optionally, tap Menu and enable Advanced optimization
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings
- Go to Display for additional options
- Tap Advanced > Sleep
- Select a lower timeout value
Remove Third-Party Apps:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life. As such you can potentially improve battery life by removing unused third-party apps.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps & Notifications
- Switch to See all apps and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall
- Tap OK
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can potentially improve battery life by disabling the phones connectivity features when not actively in use and thus avoiding unnecessary network scans.
- Swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the GPS (Location) and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Tap and hold the Wi-Fi toggle and disable the feature
- For more options, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & Tethering
- Tap Wi-Fi Hotspot
- Disable the feature
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS updated. To check if new updates are available:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and access System
- Tap System updates
- Tap Check for updates and if applicable, follow the prompts to download and install available updates
