a world phone:
Verizon's Samsung SCH-A790 is a world phone that roams in cdma and gsm networks. Verizon signed contracts with more than 100 countries for roaming.
Editors' rating:7.3 Very good
Average user rating:6.2 Good (from 13 users)
The good:CDMA and GSM world roaming; gorgeous internal and external color LCDs; solid camera; decent customization options; strong call quality and battery life.
The bad:Expensive GSM roaming; no speakerphone, built-in e-mail access, or conference calling; comes with only a desktop charger.
What's it for:Talking; taking photos.
Who's it for:Globe-trotting cell phone chatterers who must stay in touch no matter where they are in the world.
Business use:Tracking appointments; storing contacts.
Essential extrasata cables; PC-syncing software; car kit; travel-charger carrying case.
The bottom line:Samsung's stylish world phone roams on both CDMA and GSM networks, but it's saddled with a hard-to-use keypad, and it lacks some key features.
