Re: New Unlimited Carrier Zero1 Mobile Using AT&T 3G & VoIP?
hrm, wireless voip. I'm wondering how reliable something like this will be.
nevermind, I just answered my own question:
Zer01's VOIP application uses several brand-new, proprietary technologies, Piilani said. It ties into phones' dialer apps to let you dial from the phone's keypad without launching a separate voice-over-IP application. It works with a phone's built-in microphone and earpiece. And Zero01 has some sort of quality-of-service mojo that lets VOIP run even over slow EDGE and GPRS networks.
Let me point out how unusual that is: I've never seen VOIP running over slow GPRS. Even on EDGE, which is faster, the network's latency typically hurts VOIP apps.
"We've developed specific algorithms in our technology that address latency issues across the GSM networks," Piilani said.

Re: New Unlimited Carrier Zero1 Mobile Using AT&T 3G & VoIP?
Yeah, I would like to switch to them once they start offering service next month. I'm not sure how reliable the service will be, but it's cheaper then what I have now, and I have also read that they would even allow mobile phone-tethering.
I just wonder what a carrier like AT&T thinks; or all of the major carriers for that matter. Maybe, just maybe they can help lower prices for all of the services offered through wireless. I just read an article how text messages cost the carriers ((ZERO)) money to send and receive, but they still charge $15 and $20 a month for Unlimited! I understand there is cost to wireless, but I'm sick of living in a country where our wireless development and prices lag behind other countries.
Also, not that I personally care; Zer01 hopes to offer service using Unlocked iPhones as well. Now that would really make AT&T mad!!
I think some cage-rattling would be good for the market. Some new phones, lower prices, less restrictions, ect. One can only hope we get to live in the 21 Century...
I have also wondered about this, because I have not heard about it working before. Slower network VoIP could not only change mobile, but the landline VoIP services as well. Imagine using dial-up to place VoIP calls? I also wonder how the software; if the software could; handle surfing the web and making a VoIP call at the same time? Hopefully by next month we will know more about how all of this will work together.Last edited by the2ndflood; 03-24-2009 at 11:06 PM. Reason: Auto-merged Double post

The ship just came in
I just heard about Zero1 for the first time this morning. Up until today I'd never heard of them.
I was watching the morning news and Clark Howard reported on them. Clark Howard is a decent enough guy, but his product information is not always correct. But he did report that Zero1 is offering their service in the U.S. starting today April 1, 2009.
I googled Zero1 and i found this thread on page one. As of this date there is no Wikipedia page on Zero1, which is odd.
I tried to post some helpful links regarding Zero1 but this site won't let new users do such a thing.

Re: The ship just came in
The links I found were mainly news articles found using Google News Search. The company was suppose to be releasing more info sometime early this week at the CTIA wireless show, but I still haven't seen anything new. They did send out an email asking for people to reply with why they wanted to use Zer01. And they also have a text message account setup, but they just send you a generic reply about their service. Here is the email they sent me, but without the contact info; so the person doesn't get harassed. But you can find tons of different articles all over the web on this company just by doing a simple Google search.

July 1, 2009
July 1, 2009! Zer01 will go live in freakin' July. Why would they even bother releasing info and giving interviews when they don't plan to launch for 4 months?! I understand they need time to work out the bugs that the Beta testers will find, but 4 months? So much can change in 4 months. Zer01's competition will now have 4 months to find ways of combating this carrier; if they deem them a threat. Maybe by then Zer01 will be ready to offer their Mobile VoIP service over Java.

Re: New Unlimited Carrier Zero1 Mobile Using AT&T 3G & VoIP?
Yes actually it's not to good to be true. Zero1 will be using a company called Global Verge Market and sell these phone and service just when sprint and mci first came out. Actually I was offer an opportunity to be apart of the company. The offical press release was issued yesterday evening from introducing the product and the partners of that company. All I have to say is that with what I heard out of the CEO's Ben Piilani mouth this will be a change of history in the mobile industry just like when analog changed to digital. It's so sick that one of the phone that there developing can download over 30000 to 40000 movies & be plug up to your tv and the movie played from the mobile device. The company is recruiting resellers now for this technology. Here is the links to the press release and other research I've gathered.

I am a distributor for Buzzirk Mobile powered by Zer01 technology through Global Verge

I am really excited about this product, and the business,
many of 'the higher ups' are beginning to get their phones and utilizing the this technology now ... and they say it rocks ...
if you'd like more info ... I'll be happy to provide what I can ... we are learning as they move into position ... Sim cards should be available next weeks end which will be able to work with GSM WM6 phone.

Re: New Unlimited Carrier Zero1 Mobile Using AT&T 3G & VoIP?
The parent company has been leasing this technology to the government from my understanding for years. Do to government going digital the company is going public! Global Verge is a network marketing company that has exclusive rights . The fortune 1000 companies like (AT&T , veriso, etc ) tried to get the rights to it . However the parent company didn't want to wait a year + to bring to the public. Zero1mobile will be launching on( July1- however hv heard rumors possibly june1) . Things r constantly changing , so I will confirm with the company( yes I'm a distributor) . The current problem the company is hving is supply to demand. They hv contracted with several companies so that they will hv enough phones available. Sims cards r currently available , and phones r coming. I can tell u that I hv only been distibutor for about a week , and I'm selling plans along with phones through the website that the company has provided like crazy!!
Uigi (unified technologies group is the parent company of zero1mobile. Xennsoft is the company that owns this technology( from my understanding).Last edited by seraph6; 05-10-2009 at 03:01 AM.
