Reducing the Blacklight Brightness and Backlight Timeout

  2. Then scroll to Settings -> tap Display, gestures & buttons -> touch Brightness -> check or uncheck Automatic brightness, as desired.
  3. If you unchecked Automatic brightness, using the Automatic brightness slider, select the desired brightness level.
  4. When finished, tap OK.
  5. Then, tap Sleep -> select the lowest comfortable setting, such as 30 seconds or 15 seconds.

Changing Your Wallpaper

Using a standard wallpaper instead of a live one will help you conserve the battery life.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
  2. Then scroll to Settings -> tap Personalize -> touch Wallpaper -> then select the desired wallpaper source. You can select HTC wallpapers, Gallery, ID wallpapers. but not Live wallpapers.
  3. Select the desired wallpaper and then tap Apply to set it.

Turning Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth OFF

It’s recommended to keep your HTC One connected to a Wi-Fi network whenever there’s one available, as this way, the batter life of your smartphone can be extended by up to 50%, since Wi-Fi is a faster and lower power connection. You can also make calls while browsing the internet when connected to Wi-Fi.

On the other hand, if you leave Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE or Mobile Hotspot On when you’re not actively using these settings, the battery life of your HTC One will drain significantly faster.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
  2. Scroll to Settings -> turn both the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi sliders to Off.
  3. Then tap More -> select Mobile network sharing and make sure that Mobile Hotspot is unchecked -> then tap the Back key twice.
  4. Tap Mobile data -> select Network Mode -> select the desired network mode.
  5. Tap the Back key to return to Settings.
  6. Then scroll to and touch Location -> tap to uncheck GPS satellites.

Stopping Running Apps

The apps that run in the background will drain the battery life faster.

  1. Double tap the Home key.
  2. Go to the app that you want to close and then swipe up on the app.
  3. Repeat the same process for all the apps you want to close.

Downloading and Syncing Less Often

  1. From the Home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
  2. Then scroll to Settings -> tap Accounts & sync -> select the desired account type, such as Google.
  3. Tap the account you want to sync less often -> now check or uncheck the desired Sync options.

Turning Vibrate Notifications Off

If you want to go all the way and do everything possible to save the battery life, disabling the vibrate notifications will also help.
  1. From the Home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
  2. Then scroll to Settings -> tap Sound -> then tap to uncheck Vibrate if you want to turn off vibrate for calls and notifications.
  3. To turn vibrate off for the entire system, tap to uncheck Vibrate on touch.

These are pretty much the necessary steps you need to take in order to conserve the battery life of your HTC One. Additionally, you can go to Google Play and download a battery saver app and make sure your charge your smartphone regularly to maximize the battery life.
