Data Backup

Backing Up Apps:

  1. From the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Scroll to "Personal" and tap "Backup and reset"
  4. If necessary, log in to your Google account in order to back up your apps
  5. To add an account, tap "HTC account" > "Add account"
  6. Next, follow the on-screen instructions to create / add your Google account
  7. Lastly, mark the check boxes next to "Backup my data" and "Backup account"

Backing Up Contacts on HTC Cloud:

  1. Make sure you're connected to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  3. Tap "Settings" > "Backup and reset"
  4. Tap "Backup account" and select either "HTC Account" or "Google Account"
  5. Tap "Automatic backup" if you wish to create daily contact backups via Wi-Fi
  6. To back up your contacts to the cloud, tap "Back up now"

Backing Up Your Contacts on the Storage:

  1. Launch the "People" application
  2. From the "People" tab, press the "Menu" icon
  3. Tap "Manage contacts" > "Import / Export contacts"
  4. Tap "Export to phone storage" / "Export to SD storage"
  5. Select an account if necessary, and tap "OK"

Backing Up Media Files using a Windows Computer:

  1. Establish a connection between your One Mini 2 and computer via USB
  2. Click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer" from the AutoPlay window
  3. Navigate to where the desired files are stored on your phone
  4. Copy the files, then navigate to and paste the files in the desired backup location on your computer's HDD
  5. Once the transfer is complete, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
  6. Click "Eject"
  7. It's now safe to disconnect your smartphone

Backing Up Media Files using a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the HTC One Mini 2 to your Mac via USB
  2. On the Mac, double click the virtual drive icon that should appear on the desktop
  3. Locate the desired files, and copy them in the desired location on your computer's hard drive
  4. Once the files have been backed up, drag the virtual drive icon and drop it into "Trash / Eject"
  5. You can now disconnect your smartphone

Restoring Data

Restoring Apps:

  1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Personal", tap "Accounts & sync"
  4. Press the "Menu" button and tap "Sync all"

Restoring Contacts from the Cloud:

  1. Ensure that your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  3. Go to "Settings" > "Backup and reset"
  4. Tap "Restore from HTC backup" and follow any additional on-screen prompts

Restoring Contacts from Storage:

  1. Open the "People" app
  2. Access the "People" tab
  3. Press the "Menu" icon and tap "Manage contacts"
  4. Select "Import / Export contacts"
  5. Tap "Import from phone storage" or "Import from SD storage", depending on where the backup file is located
  6. Select an account if necessary, and load the VCF file containing your contacts

Restoring Media Files from a Windows Machine:

  1. Connect the HTC One Mini 2 to your computer using the USB cable
  2. From the AutoPlay window on the PC, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  3. Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the backed up files
  4. Copy the files and transfer them on your phone's memory
  5. After the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray
  6. Click "Eject", and disconnect your smartphone

Restoring Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Establish a USB connection between your Mac and HTC smartphone
  2. Double-click the virtual drive icon located on the desktop
  3. Locate the backed up files from the Mac's HDD, and copy them on the phone's storage
  4. Once the files have been copied, drag and drop the virtual drive icon into "Trash / Eject"
  5. It's now safe to disconnect your smartphone
