Data Backup
Backing Up Apps:
- From the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
- Go to "Settings"
- Scroll to "Personal" and tap "Backup and reset"
- If necessary, log in to your Google account in order to back up your apps
- To add an account, tap "HTC account" > "Add account"
- Next, follow the on-screen instructions to create / add your Google account
- Lastly, mark the check boxes next to "Backup my data" and "Backup account"
Backing Up Contacts on HTC Cloud:
- Make sure you're connected to a Wi-Fi network
- Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
- Tap "Settings" > "Backup and reset"
- Tap "Backup account" and select either "HTC Account" or "Google Account"
- Tap "Automatic backup" if you wish to create daily contact backups via Wi-Fi
- To back up your contacts to the cloud, tap "Back up now"
Backing Up Your Contacts on the Storage:
- Launch the "People" application
- From the "People" tab, press the "Menu" icon
- Tap "Manage contacts" > "Import / Export contacts"
- Tap "Export to phone storage" / "Export to SD storage"
- Select an account if necessary, and tap "OK"
Backing Up Media Files using a Windows Computer:
- Establish a connection between your One Mini 2 and computer via USB
- Click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer" from the AutoPlay window
- Navigate to where the desired files are stored on your phone
- Copy the files, then navigate to and paste the files in the desired backup location on your computer's HDD
- Once the transfer is complete, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
- Click "Eject"
- It's now safe to disconnect your smartphone
Backing Up Media Files using a Mac Computer:
- Connect the HTC One Mini 2 to your Mac via USB
- On the Mac, double click the virtual drive icon that should appear on the desktop
- Locate the desired files, and copy them in the desired location on your computer's hard drive
- Once the files have been backed up, drag the virtual drive icon and drop it into "Trash / Eject"
- You can now disconnect your smartphone
Restoring Data
Restoring Apps:
- While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Tap "Settings"
- Under "Personal", tap "Accounts & sync"
- Press the "Menu" button and tap "Sync all"
Restoring Contacts from the Cloud:
- Ensure that your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network
- Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
- Go to "Settings" > "Backup and reset"
- Tap "Restore from HTC backup" and follow any additional on-screen prompts
Restoring Contacts from Storage:
- Open the "People" app
- Access the "People" tab
- Press the "Menu" icon and tap "Manage contacts"
- Select "Import / Export contacts"
- Tap "Import from phone storage" or "Import from SD storage", depending on where the backup file is located
- Select an account if necessary, and load the VCF file containing your contacts
Restoring Media Files from a Windows Machine:
- Connect the HTC One Mini 2 to your computer using the USB cable
- From the AutoPlay window on the PC, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the backed up files
- Copy the files and transfer them on your phone's memory
- After the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray
- Click "Eject", and disconnect your smartphone
Restoring Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between your Mac and HTC smartphone
- Double-click the virtual drive icon located on the desktop
- Locate the backed up files from the Mac's HDD, and copy them on the phone's storage
- Once the files have been copied, drag and drop the virtual drive icon into "Trash / Eject"
- It's now safe to disconnect your smartphone
