HTC One M7 / Use as media player?

Is it possible to an HTC One M7 (verizon) as a media player without setting up phone service? I want give this to my child for her to use as she would a small tablet - for music, movies, some apps, but w/out any phone service.

You can, sure. The wi-fi will work without service, so you can still use video/music apps.

When I try to use the phone it asks me to select a language and after I select it tries to connect to Verizon. I can't get past this. Is there something I need to do so that this phone will work w/WiFi w/out phone service?

So it's never been activated? Try taking the sim out of it.

It have never been activated, and I did try with and w/out the SIM with same result.

This phone is right out of the box, nothing has ever been done to it, nor can it since all it allows you to do is select the language and connect to Verizon

I don't see why U cannot use wifi and use it as a mini tablet
