Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your third party applications doesnt work as intended, you might be able to fix this behavior by clearing the respective apps cache or data.
WARNING! Clearing an apps data will remove all personal information stored within the application, such as credit card and login information, profiles, high scores, save files etc. As such you should try fixing the app by first clearing the cache.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Launch Settings
- Under Phone, tap Apps
- Swipe to the All tab and select the desired app
- Tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK
Reboot in Safe Mode to Remove an App:
NOTE: If youve installed a third party app on your phone that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you can try uninstalling the app from Safe Mode. When you reboot your phone in Safe Mode, third party app support will be disabled.
- With the device turned on, press and hold Power
- From the Phone options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot to safe mode prompt, tap Restart (NOTE: when the phone finishes restarting, you should see a Safe Mode label in the lower-left area of the screen)
- To remove an app, first go to Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit safe mode, simply press and hold Power, then tap Restart
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone doesnt work as intended and youre considering master resetting it, you might want to try and clear the cache partition first. Doing so can solve various issues without losing any of your personal data stored on the internal memory.
- Turn off the phone
- Press and hold Volume Down
- Press Power and release the key once the phone vibrates
- Once you see the hTC download mode menu, release the volume key
- From the menu, press Volume down repeatedly to highlight reboot to bootloader
- Press Power
- From the bootloader menu, press Volume down to highlight Boot to Recovery Mode
- Press Power
- After a while, a black screen with an exclamation mark should appear. Hold Power and press & release Volume Up
- You should now see the Android system recovery menu
- From Recovery, press Volume down to highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power
- Once done, make sure reboot system now is selected, and press Power one last time to restart your device
