Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your third party apps doesnt work as intended, you might be able to fix the issues by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! Clearing an applications data will remove all personal information stored within the app, such as saved games, profiles, credit card and login information, high scores etc. However, by clearing the apps cache first, you could fix the problems without losing any of your personal data.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Swipe to All and select the desired application
- Tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK
Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to easily uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. When you reboot your phone in Safe Mode, all third party apps are disabled.
- Wake up the screen and press & hold Power
- In the Phone options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Reboot to safe mode, tap Restart
- Once the phone reboots, a Safe Mode label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen
- To uninstall the application, first access Settings
- Tap Apps under Phone
- Swipe to Downloaded and select the desired application
- Tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- To exit safe mode, press and hold Power and tap Restart
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone is unresponsive, runs out of storage inexplicably, or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you might be able to fix the issues by clearing the cache partition. This can have similar effects as a factory reset, without losing any of your personal data on the internal storage.
- Turn off the phone
- Press and hold Volume Down and Power at the same time
- When three Androids appear on the screen, release the buttons
- From the HBOOT menu, press Volume down to highlight Recovery
- Press Power to enter recovery
- Once in the Recovery menu, press Volume down repeatedly to highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power
- After the cache is wiped, reboot your phone
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the HTC One A9.
