Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your third party applications doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! Clearing an application’s data will delete all personal data stored within the app, including login and credit card information, save files, high scores, profiles etc. Thus it’s recommended to try fixing the issues by first clearing the cache.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
  4. Access the “All” tab and select the desired application
  5. Tap “Clear cache”
  6. If necessary, tap “Clear data” and press “OK” to confirm

Reboot in Safe Mode:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app within Safe Mode. In Safe Mode all third party apps are disabled.

  1. Wake up the screen
  2. Press and hold “power”
  3. In the “Power options” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
  4. At the “Reboot to safe mode” pop-up, tap “Restart”
  5. Wait for your phone to restart, and a “Safe Mode” label should be shown in the lower-left area of the screen
  6. To start removing the app, first go to “Settings”
  7. Tap “Apps” under “Phone”
  8. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  9. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
  10. You can exit safe mode by pressing and holding “Power”, then tapping “Restart”

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your device doesn’t work as intended (crashes, freezes etc.) you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. To do this:

  1. First turn off the phone
  2. Press and hold “Volume Down”
  3. Press “Power” and release the key when the phone vibrates
  4. From the “hTC download mode” screen, press “Volume down” to highlight “reboot to bootloader”
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  6. Highlight “reboot to bootloader” and press “Power”
  7. In the bootloader menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly and highlight “Boot to Recovery Mode”
  8. Press “Power”
  9. At the black screen with an exclamation mark, hold “Power”, then press & release “Volume Up”
  10. From the “Android system Recovery” menu, press “Volume down” until you highlight “wipe cache partition”
  11. Press “Power”
  12. After the cache is wiped, make sure “Reboot system now” is highlighted
  13. Press “Power” and wait for the phone to reboot
