Back Up App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
  4. Tap “Backup account”
  5. If necessary, select “Google account” > “Add account”
  6. Sign in with the Google account you want to use for the backup
  7. Enable “Back up my data” and “Backup account”

Back Up Contacts on a Google or HTC Account:

  1. Make sure the phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal”
  4. Tap “Backup and reset” > “Backup account”
  5. Select “Google account” or “HTC account”
  6. Enable “Automatic backup” to perform daily backups over Wi-Fi
  7. To back up contacts manually, tap “Back up now”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the HTC One S9 to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  3. Turn on “Media device (MTP)”
  4. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  5. Use the Explorer to locate the media files on your phone
  6. Copy the desired files and transfer them on your computer
  7. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Back Up Media Files on a Mac:

  1. Connect the HTC One S9 to your Mac via USB
  2. Swipe the “Notification” bar down and enable “Media device (MTP)”
  3. Launch the File Finder on the Mac
  4. Locate the media files on your phone and copy them
  5. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the Mac
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can”
  7. Safely disconnect the device from the USB port
